In order to expand their professional horizons, an on-site practical training was held for 2nd and 3rd year students of the direction “Agronomy”, profile “Fruit and vegetable growing” at the leading horticultural enterprise of the Stavropol Territory LLC “Niva S”, where an intensive technology of growing fruit crops has been successfully applied on an area of more than 300 hectares.
The lesson was conducted by Olga Alekseevna Matushkina, chief agronomist of the economy. In the garden, students got acquainted with the technological features of growing fruit crops using intensive technologies, as well as the features of drip irrigation and fertigation, the need for a plant support system in the form of trellis, and anti-hail net. Then Olga Alekseevna showed the students a fleet of specialized agricultural equipment used in the economy, told the principles and features of her work. During the lesson, students asked a large number of questions that interest them, to which they received detailed answers from a specialist in the economy.
At the end of the field lesson, the staff of the department for the production and processing of food products from plant materials and the management of the farm discussed issues of further cooperation in the practice of students of SSAU on the basis of this enterprise.
