During the seminar, new information and analytical capabilities of Scopus and ScienceDirect resources, available the Stavropol State Agrarian University as part of the National Subscription, and methods for their effective use in scientific work were studied.
A retreat seminar by Elsevier Publishing House was held in Stavropol State Agrarian University by the lecturer Tatyana Kuznetsova, Ph.D., director of the Center for the Development of Publication Activities of the Baltic Federal University named after Immanuel Kant, editor of the Baltic Region magazine, Elsevier product trainer. The seminar examined two topics of relevance to university scientists: “Using Scopus and ScienceDirect in research work” and “Mendeley: a personal scientific library and a tool for scientific communication”.
Issues considered were as follows:
• Selection and analysis of relevant scientific literature on the topic of research in the Scopus database and on the Science Direct platform;
• Search, analysis and identification of the most authoritative journals, authors and organizations in Scopus and Science Direct in various scientific disciplines by various metrics;
• Selection of scientific journals that are best suited to the tasks of the author (relevance to the topic, quality indicators, reliability criteria);
• Work with copyright profiles in Scopus;
• Organization of a personal library at Mendeley;
• Work with references and bibliography;
• Mendeley as a scientific social network.
Seminar participants asked questions during the lecturer's speech and received new knowledge, experience and information that will be useful in educational and scientific activities.
