The international enlightenment campaign “Great Ethnographic Dictation” will be held on November 1, 2019 at 11:00 local time in all regions of Russia and abroad. The action is dedicated to the Day of National Unity. In Russia, a large-scale campaign has been held for the fourth year in a row. This year, Dictation will be held at our university.
The dictation will make it possible to assess the level of ethnographic literacy of the population, their knowledge of the peoples living in Russia. It will draw attention to ethnography as a science that occupies an important place in the harmonization of interethnic relations.
The tasks of the dictation will consist of 30 questions: 20 questions - common to all and 10 regional, unique to each subject. Participants are given 45 minutes to write a dictation. The maximum score for completing all tasks is 100.
Last year, 392 thousand people wrote Dictation on 4567 sites in Russia and abroad. In the Stavropol Territory, the action was supported by about 2800 participants.
The organizers of the “Great Ethnographic Dictation” are the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs and the Ministry of National Policy of the Udmurt Republic. The partner of the Dictation is the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad, and international humanitarian cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

Residents of Russia and foreign countries who speak Russian can become participants in the Dictation, regardless of education, social affiliation, religion or citizenship. There are no age restrictions.
