Stavropol celebrated National Unity Day

The annual celebration of National Unity Day dates back to 2005. This state holiday is set in honor of an important event in the history of Russia - the liberation of Moscow from Polish interventionists in 1612, and is dedicated to the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. On this day, festivities, concerts, performances and sporting events, rallies and processions, charity events are held throughout the country.

In the center of the holiday, on the main square of the regional capital, more than 500 university students and teachers, led by the rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev with flags and banners took part in the march of columns. The Governor of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirovich Vladimirov congratulated fellow countrymen.

The Stavropol region consider their home more than 100 nationalities. To celebrate the holiday of friendship and unity, representatives of various ethnic groups from all territories of the region came to the regional center. Traditionally, ethnic courtyards unfolded opposite the regional library named after M.Yu. Lermontov and the Book House. Here one could get acquainted with the objects of ancient life of peoples, products of artisans, national clothes, and dishes.

Students of Agrarian University note that each event held together unites the multinational and very friendly family of the Agrarian even more, and feelings of ownership with the history of the Fatherland lead the university to new victories!
