International Student Vavilov Olympiad, dedicated to the 132nd anniversary of the birth of the academician, world-famous scientist N.I. Vavilov

The International Student Vavilov Olympiad was held at the Saratov State Agrarian University, dedicated to the 132nd anniversary of the birth of the academician, world-famous scientist N.I. Vavilov. Thanks to the support of the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Trukhachev, the student team of the Stavropol State Agrarian University of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources is a permanent participant in this event.

15 teams from all regions of Russia - Saratov State Agrarian University; Oryol SAU; Kazan SAU; Stavropol State Agrarian University; Michurinsky SAU; Penza SAU; Samara State Agrarian University; Volgograd State Agrarian University took part in a struggle.

At the opening ceremony of the Olympiad, the participants of the teams greeted and wished them good luck in the upcoming Olympiad, Acting Rector of the Saratov State Agrarian University, Soloviev D. A., acting Vice-rector for educational work, Shyurova N.A., and acting Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy Tkachenko O.V.

Judged the results of the participants of the Olympiad:

• Chairman of the jury, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Deputy Chairman of the Saratov Vavilov Society of Genetics and Breeders Yuri Viktorovich Lobachev;

• Candidate of Biological Sciences, employee of the laboratory of immunochemistry of the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and Microorganisms of the Russian Academy of Sciences Burygin Gennady Leonidovich;

• Head of the Memorial Cabinet Museum N.I. Vavilova - Ryazantsev Nikita Valerevich;

• Chief Scientific Officer of the Corn and Grass Department of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution of RosNIISK "Rossorgo" - Alexander Nikolaevich Astashov.

At the opening ceremony of the Olympiad, each team spoke to the competent jury with their visiting card.

This year, the Stavropol State Agrarian University was represented by a team of 3 year students of the “Agronomy” Evgenya Poltavskykh, 3 year student of the “Ecology and Nature Management” - Orekhova Tatyana and 2 year student of the “Ecology and Nature Management” - Vasina Anastasia, under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of General Agriculture, Crop Production, Selection and Seed Production named after F.I. Bobryshev, Shabaldas Olga Georgievna.

After the opening ceremony, the teams began to test the Olympiad. The participants performed the most difficult team tasks and took part in the individual championship, and a captain competition was also held.

Over the course of several months, the guys were diligently preparing for the competitions. As a result, Tatyana Orekhova took the second place in the individual standings, Vasina Anastasia and Poltavskykh Evgeny shared the third place. In the captain’s competition, the captain of our team, Tatyana Orekhova, took an honorable third place.

As a result, the team demonstrated the best knowledge about the life and scientific heritage of the world famous scientist-geneticist and breeder, academician Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov, taking the honorable first place.

Congratulations on the next high achievement of the team of "Vavilovites" of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, which is a confirmation of perseverance, active life position and hard work!
