Innovative digital methods for managing and developing livestock production will be available to Stavropol livestock breeding specialists

26.02.2020

Stavropol scientists are creating a digital project office to create an IT platform for the provision of integrated services for the use of remote aerospace technologies in the agricultural sector. New management methods are formed in the EEU member states and will become a condition for their investment development.

In the Stavropol Territory, modern monitoring methods in the field of animal husbandry are already introduced. This will increase the efficiency of pasture use and increase the flow of investment in agriculture.

The essence of the method is to use the archived data of satellite services, including digital photographs of pastures. A comprehensive analysis of these data will allow producers to make relevant management decisions to optimize processes and reduce production costs, which will increase the quality of finished products and the environmental sustainability of the territory.

Similar methods are actively used by Italian farmers. The services of the Italian company ABACO Group cover about 80% of the agricultural sector in Italy. The company uses innovative digital approaches in the formation and updating of the database, which allows the potential investor to receive all the necessary reliable information about the status of fields and pastures.

"The combination of independent collection of accounting data with the official nature of the information provided made it possible to form an integration platform for storing and updating accounting data in the areas of both state self-government and agricultural business," said Sergey Oleynik, Professor of Stavropol State Agrarian University, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, who studied the experience of an Italian company with a group of scientists.

Stavropol scientists, within the framework of the Federal target program, developed an innovative system for accelerated development of pasture livestock using digital aerospace technologies. It was tested in the leading breeding sheep farms of the Stavropol Territory and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As a result, mathematical models were developed for the formation of forage pasture resources that allow using the credentials of satellite service systems and the results of aerial photography using drones and images from space. Livestock breeding specialists and agronomists have access to digital maps of the fields. Operational data and digital maps of agricultural land allow producers to form objective approaches in conditions of intensive agriculture, identify areas with low-quality shoots of forage and agricultural crops, develop a set of measures for the use of agricultural land and select the most suitable areas for pasture livestock.

Currently, Stavropol scientists are negotiating with Roscosmos on the development of a project that will create a single product for the Russian commodity producer, including the creation of digital maps of fields with reliable data on their condition and forecasts for the use of pastures, accumulation of precipitation in the soil, etc. These data can be included in the investment portfolio of the Region, which will increase the attractiveness of the agricultural sector of Stavropol.
