The Agrarian University hosted the finals of the XV All-Russian Olympiad in financial literacy, the financial market and consumer protection for high school students

Within the walls of Stavropol State Agrarian University, children from all over the North Caucasus Federal District gathered to participate in the finals of the XV All-Russian Olympiad in financial literacy, the financial market and consumer protection for high school students. The goals of the Olympics are to attract public attention to issues of improving consumer knowledge and financial literacy, as well as to help identify talented children in the regions of Russia and train highly qualified personnel for the country's financial system.

The Olympiad is held annually from September 1 to March 31 and consists of three stages: correspondence testing, writing a creative essay on the proposed topic and the final.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, the Olympics Final was simultaneously held in 12 cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tyumen, Kirov, Orenburg, Ufa, Samara and Stavropol. 

The city of Stavropol was chosen for the finals in connection with a record number of participants in the Olympics. This year more than 3 thousand children from the Stavropol Territory were registered at the Olympiad. The finalists of the Olympiad were 64 students of the Stavropol Territory, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Chechen Republic, North Ossetia, Ingushetia, and Crimea.

The organizers of the Olympics, together with partners, are the All-Russian Public Organization of Consumers "Union of Consumers of Financial Services". Great help and support in organizing and conducting the Olympics was provided by Stavropol State Agrarian University. 

In his greeting, Professor Ivan V. Atanov, Acting Rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, noted that improving the financial literacy of youth is one of the urgent tasks of the University.

With parting words, the honored guests also addressed the participants of the Olympics:

- Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Stavropol Territory, Minister of Finance of the Stavropol Territory Larisa Anatolyevna Kalinchenko;

- First Deputy Minister of Education of the Stavropol Territory Natalya Aleksandrovna Lavrova;

- Rector of the Stavropol Territory Institute for the Development of Education, Continuing Education and Retraining of Education Workers Elena Vladimirovna Evmenenko;

- Coordinator of the regional program to improve the financial literacy of the population Nadezhda Ivanovna Gerasimenko.

Participants had to go through the three stages of the final test of the Olympics: completing testing and writing tasks, as well as participating in a blitz game. 

2 hours were allotted for test tasks and written work. At that time, a commission of observers from the lecturers of the Department of Financial Management and Banking of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Professor Taranova Irina Viktorovna, associate professors Skrebtsova Tamara Vasilyevna and Shamrina Svetlana Yuryevna worked in the audience.

The answers during the blitz game were evaluated by a qualified Jury as a member of the Dean of the Accounting and Finance Faculty of Stavropol State Agrarian University Elena Ivanovna Kostyukova; Vitaly Viktorovich Koshelev, Chief Economist, Economic Department, Branch, Stavropol Territory, Southern Main Directorate, Central Bank of the Russian Federation Yulia Mikhailovna Sklyarova, Head of the Department of Financial Management and Banking, Stavropol State Agrarian University; Associate professors of the Department of Financial Management and Banking of Stavropol State Agrarian University Elena Nikolaevna Lapina; Lyudmila Anatolyevna Latysheva, Elena Anatolyevna Ostapenko.

The results of the final tests will be published on the website of the Olympics during March 2020. Winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad will receive Diplomas and Certificates, prizes and souvenirs. Finalists of the Olympics - an opportunity to visit the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Moscow Exchange, the Money Museum in the head office of Sberbank.

Undoubtedly, the strongest are the winners, but each participant has acquired the knowledge necessary not only in the profession of financier, but also in life. Participation in the Olympiad is, first of all, a valuable experience, a test of one's strengths, new knowledge and interesting acquaintances.
