Student assistance to the Diocesan Farm

18.03.2020

The activities of the Diocesan subsidiary farm are aimed at the livestock and crop production. In the fall of 2018, a drip irrigation garden was established in a farm on an area of 1 ha. The main crop in the garden is an apple tree, and cherries and pears are also grown. Students of Stavropol State Agrarian University provide all possible assistance in the processing of trees.

Agricultural students led by associate professor Timur Soltanovich Aisanov carried out spring pruning of the orchard in the Diocesan subsidiary farm in the village of Solnechny, Stavropol Territory.

For the second year, Alexander Nikolayevich Esaulko, the Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, Ecology and Landscape Construction, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has organized a trip for students of the training direction “Agronomy” to a subsidiary farm with the aim of conducting nursing activities in the garden.

Spring pruning contributes to the formation of tree crowns, the removal of frozen and damaged shoots, and also initiates the formation of fruit wood. Carrying out this agrotechnical technique contributes to increasing the yield of trees and improving the quality of the resulting fruits.

Conducting on-site practical classes with students helps to consolidate the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and develop practical skills among students that are necessary in the preparation of highly qualified specialists of higher education.
