Representatives of the Stavropol State Agrarian University took part in the all-Russian meeting "On the feasibility of using short-term crop rotations, theory and practice"

18.09.2020

The meeting participants discussed the feasibility of introducing short-term crop rotations of sunflower. During the event, representatives of the scientific community reported on the results of practical experience in introducing four-field crop rotations into production. However, in a number of farms, an increase in the area of sunflower crops to 40-42% causes an increase in the spread of sunflower and pathogens characteristic of this crop, as well as significant desiccation of the soil cover and significant removal of food elements.

At the end of the meeting, D. H. Khatuov instructed representatives of the scientific community to strengthen work in the direction of research on the possibility of introducing short-rotation crop rotations of sunflower, in order to increase its share in the structure of sown areas. In this regard, the staff of the faculties of agrobiology and land resources, ecology and landscape architecture decided to lay a number of field experiments on sunflower crops in various soil and climatic zones of the Stavropol territory.
