The Ministry of Agriculture of Stavropol Territory held a meeting of the working group on the state and problems of the use of irrigated arable land in Stavropol Territory.

The work was headed by the Minister of Agriculture of the region Vladimir Nikolaevich Sitnikov. The working group included scientists from Stavropol State Agrarian University:

Dean of the Faculties of Agrobiology and Land Resources and Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Department of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Worker of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Nikolaevich Esaulko,

Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Soil Science named after V.I. Tyulpanov, Tskhovrebov Valery Sergeevich,

Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology Evgeny Valerievich Golosnoy

Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Head of the Department of General Agriculture, Plant Growing, Breeding and Seed Production named after Professor F.I. Bobryshev, Vlasova Olga Ivanovna.

Concluding speech on the state and prospects of the use of irrigated arable land was delivered by Dr. of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Yesaulko A.N. He said that scientists from SSAU carried out studies, within which they put forward reasons that negatively affect the growth and development of crops, such as: the physicochemical state of the soil cover, non-compliance with agricultural technology, problems associated with the irrigation intensity, weather conditions.

Recommendations based on the conducted research are: an increase in the content of organic matter in the soil due to the maximum leaving of plant residues (straw and stems); the introduction of traditional organic fertilizers (manure); the sowing of intermediate green manure crops (oil radish, field mustard); the introduction of alfalfa into the crop rotation; the use of agrotechnical measures, contributing to the leveling of the field in order to eliminate microrelief; carrying out water recharge irrigation in autumn for winter and spring crops; the use of appropriate agricultural techniques to prevent manifestations of deflation and water erosion; the implementation of scientific and production tests to study the effectiveness of the use of various ameliorants, which will avoid negative manifestations of erosion processes in the future, will contribute to a more rational use of water resources and will increase the productivity of each hectare of irrigated arable land in the granary of Russia - Stavropol region!
