Industrial practice is the most important part of the training of highly qualified veterinarians - organizers and managers of production. It allows students to become sufficiently familiar with the activities of a general veterinarian. At the pig-breeding complex “Guard” in the village Sturm, Krasnogvardeisky District, Stavropol Territory, six students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Stavropol State Agrarian University are practicing.
Working on such a large and large-scale pig-breeding complex allows students to master practical skills in real production conditions. During the time that the children are undergoing practical training, they have already learned how to vaccinate, reanimate piglets, provide childbirth assistance to sows, identify sows in heat and inseminate.
In the Stavropol Territory, it is difficult to find a larger site for practice than the Gvardia pig farm - according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the UK, the pig farm contains about 243.2 thousand pigs or 86% of the livestock available in agricultural organizations of the region.
The students talk about their experience with great enthusiasm: “We assumed that the practice would be different, but we were wrong - we were lucky to work in a modern, high-tech enterprise. We were warmly welcomed, no one says that we are young, does not repel, on the contrary, the specialists of the pig breeding complex generously share their knowledge and experience with us.
It is important to note that not only their direct mentors, but also the management of the pig farm work with the students. After all, it is no secret to anyone that the interest in the inflow of young personnel in the livestock and meat processing industry is quite high.
Oleg Lukyanov, director of IC Gvardia LLC:
“Already now we are ready not only to provide future specialists with the opportunity to undergo real practice (paid) at one of the largest pig farms in the Stavropol Territory, but also to hire several graduates without work experience. Of course, we will take a close look at the ability and desire to meet our standards. But I am sure that if someone decides to connect his life with modern animal husbandry and meat processing, he will be pleasantly surprised by both working conditions and career prospects. “
