Stavropol State Agrarian University and Sberbank were the first in the South of Russia to implement a digital university project

Stavropol State Agrarian University became the first university in the South of Russia, where a biometric face recognition system from the CRT group of companies (part of the Sberbank ecosystem) was implemented. The implementation of the system has become one of the joint projects of Sberbank and SSAU. For a number of years, the bank has been a partner of the university, including within the framework of the campus project.

At the entrance groups to the territory of SSAU, work has been recently completed on the installation and configuration of the biometric face recognition system using artificial intelligence and computer vision "Vizir", which detects and identifies visitors passing through the turnstile.

The grand opening took place in the new building of the university. The symbolic ribbon was cut by Ivan Vyacheslavovich Atanov, rector of Stavropol State Agrarian University, professor and Alexei Sergeevich Chvanov, manager of the Stavropol branch of Sberbank.

First of all, the face recognition system is a new level of security for an educational institution. All employees and students undergo mandatory registration in the system, so that the program will not let outsiders into the territory of the university. This significantly systematizes the access system, thereby making it practically invulnerable.

How the biometric face recognition system works: when a person enters the field of view of the camera, the biometric system performs a cycle of mathematical processing, during which an image is extracted from the video stream, then encoded into a biometric template containing unique characteristics of the face. Then this template is checked against the database of persons whose access is allowed, and upon matching, the turnstile opens. So access is provided to a strictly defined audience.

After the solemn event, a lecture "Create the future with Sberbank" was held for SSAU students, which was delivered by Alexey Sergeevich Chvanov.
