The Agrarian University hosted the final of the 16th All-Russian Olympiad on financial literacy, financial market and consumer protection for high school students

Within the walls of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, children from all over the Stavropol Territory gathered to participate in the finals of the 16th All-Russian Olympiad in financial literacy, financial market and consumer protection for high school students. The goals of the Olympiad are to draw public attention to the issues of increasing the level of consumer knowledge and financial literacy, as well as to assist in identifying talented children in the regions of Russia and training highly qualified personnel for the country's financial system.

The Olympiad is held annually from September 01 to March 31 and consists of two stages: correspondence testing using distance learning technologies and the final.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, the Finals of the Olympiad were held in 38 cities of Russia. The city of Stavropol was selected for the final due to the record number of participants in the Olympiad. This year, more than 4 thousand children from the Stavropol Territory were registered in the Olympiad, of which more than 250 schoolchildren reached the final.

The organizers of the Olympiad together with partners are the National Institute of Financial Markets and Management and the All-Russian Public Organization of Consumers "Union of Consumers of Financial Services". The Stavropol State Agrarian University provided great assistance and support in organizing and conducting the Olympiad.

In his greeting, the rector of the Stavropol State Agrarian University, Professor Ivan Vyacheslavovich Atanov, noted that increasing the level of financial literacy of young people is one of the urgent tasks of the University.

The guests of honor also addressed the participants of the Olympiad with parting words:

– Nadezhda Ivanovna Gerasimenko, Coordinator of the regional program to improve the financial literacy of the population;

– Vitaly Victorovch Koshelev, Chief Economist of the Economic Department of the Stavropol Territory Branch of the Southern Main Directorate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation;

– Tatiana Aleksandrovna Avdeeva, business partner for personnel management of the Stavropol branch of Sberbank.

The participants had to go through three stages of the final test of the Olympics: completing testing and writing assignments, writing a creative essay on the proposed topic, as well as participating in a blitz game.

3.5 hours were allotted for the completion of test assignments and written work, writing a creative essay. At this time, a commission of observers from among the teachers of the Department of Financial Management and Banking of the Stavropol State Agrarian University worked with the participants. The commission comprised associate professors Larisa Vladimirovna Kuleshova, Tamara Vasilyevna Skrebtsova, Svetlana Yuryevna Shamrina.

The answers during the blitz game were evaluated by a qualified jury consisting of Elena Ivanovna Kostyukova, Dean of the Accounting and Finance Faculty of the Stavropol State Agrarian University; Yulia Mikhailovna Sklyarova, Head of the Department of Financial Management and Banking, Stavropol State Agrarian University; Elena Nikolaevna Lapina, Lyudmila Anatolyevna Latysheva, Elena Anatolyevna Ostapenko – Associate Professors of the Department of Financial Management and Banking, Stavropol State Agrarian University.

The results of the final tests will be published on the Olympiad website during March 2021. The winners and awardees of the Olympiad will receive Diplomas and Certificates, prizes and gifts.

Undoubtedly, the strongest become the winners, but each participant acquired the knowledge necessary not only in the profession of a financier, but also in life. Participation in the Olympiad is, first of all, valuable experience, a test of one's strength, new knowledge and interesting acquaintances.
