Experience was laid in the study and evaluation of experimental sunflower hybrids in preliminary variety testing

Within the framework of joint research activities between the FGBNU FNTs VNIIMK and the Stavropol State Agrarian University in the first decade of May 2021, the first stage of the joint project was carried out. Joint work is carried out with the aim of activating and strengthening scientific ties, carrying out scientific research and scientific and practical work in the field of selection and seed production of oilseeds for the creation and introduction of modern varieties and hybrids into the agro-industrial complex, as well as technologies for their cultivation.

The goal of the project is to create highly productive sunflower hybrids of various ripeness groups and directions of use, with increased resistance to bio- and abiofactors of the environment, suitable for cultivation in various zones of the country.

By the efforts of associate professors of the basic department of general agriculture, plant growing, selection and seed production named after Professor F.I. Bobryshev together with the staff of the Federal Scientific Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Oilseeds named after V.S. Pustovoit ”, an experiment was laid on the study and evaluation of experimental sunflower hybrids in a preliminary variety trial.

Scientific and practical work will be aimed at preserving and involving genetic sources in the breeding process, ensuring the production of varieties and hybrids of sunflower with specified characteristics, as well as the creation and development of a competitive fund of original seed material. Further study of breeding material will make it possible to develop effective technologies for DNA marking to isolate economically valuable traits and donors of resistance to damaging abiotic and biotic environmental factors, to develop new and improve traditional methods aimed at accelerating breeding work.
