Field Day at Stavropol Variety Testing Station

Stabilization of grain production from year to year, regardless of changes in weather conditions, is one of the main issues of modern agricultural production. In the south of Russia, breeders create dozens of varieties of grain crops adapted to the conditions of the North Caucasus region, which makes them competitive in the grain market. The branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "State Sort Commission" for Stavropol Territory is engaged in testing varieties of grain, legumes and industrial crops created in Stavropol, Krasnodar Territories, Rostov Region and varieties of foreign selection.

On the basis of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "State Sort Commission" Stavropol GSIS, Kugulta of the Grachevsky municipal district, a regional meeting on variety testing was held. The meeting was attended by employees of the faculties of agrobiology and land resources and ecology and landscape architecture: the head of the basic department of general agriculture, plant growing, breeding and seed production named after F.I. Bobryshev, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, professor Vlasova Olga Ivanovna, associate professors, candidates of agricultural sciences Drepa Elena Borisovna, Donets Inna Anatolyevna, Golub Anna Sergeevna, Bezgina Yulia Aleksandrovna, Ibragimov Ali Allaudinovich and 2nd year students of the program "Agronomy".

The meeting was opened by the director of the station Kondratenko Oleg Vladimirovich, who spoke about the activities of the variety testing station, about its plans for the future and development prospects.

The state and prospects of breeding varieties of grain crops in the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “NTsZ named after P.P. Lukyanenko ” and FGBNU “AND Donskoy ” were presented by the leading breeders of these institutions, and representatives of the branch of FGBU “Rosselkhoztsentr” in Stavropol Territory spoke about the phytosanitary state of winter grain crops in 2021.

After the official part, those present visited the demonstration crops, where they examined the crops of new varieties of winter wheat, spring barley, triticale and peas, which are tested.
