The Stavropol State Agrarian University hosted a training seminar-meeting on the topic "Open access, publication ethics, the structure of IMRAD articles in journals from the Scopus database." The main task of the seminar was to consider issues on increasing the publication activity of university scientists in journals indexed in international citation databases.
The event was opened by acting Vice-rector for scientific and innovative work, Doctor of Economics, Professor Alexei Nikolaevich Bobryshev.
The report was made by the engineer for scientific and technical information of the scientific and innovative training center, associate professor Irina Vladimirovna Samoilenko.
In her speech, she revealed the possibility of publishing articles in open access in journals indexed in international citation databases. She informed about the types of open access: payment for publication by the author himself and payment by the reader to gain access to the full text of the article.
The speaker spoke about the need to pay great attention to publication ethics, in particular, the originality of the research, correct citation, the principles of indicating the co-authors of the research, as well as interaction with the editorial board. She drew the attention of the audience to the fact that in case of violation of the principles of publication ethics, articles can be retracted.
Much attention was paid to the structure of writing IMRAD articles (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion). Each of the sections has its own characteristics that must be taken into account when writing a work.
A number of further events are planned, in particular, at the next meeting, the scientometric indicators of the journals will be considered:
how to search for journal metrics in the Scopus database;
indicators of journals in the Web of Science and Scimago databases;
ranking of journals by quartile;
search for suitable journals by reviewing the literature.
