Collaboration in the field of breeding and seed production

Breeding to increase the adaptive potential is the main direction of adaptive breeding. To create varieties with a wide adaptive potential is the main task of the breeders of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

Understanding the essence of the development of such a priority area as breeding and seed production, scientists of Agrobiology and Land Resources Faculty set tasks to create new adaptive varieties of cereals, legumes and industrial crops that will reduce the dependence of the domestic market on foreign breeding material and associated agrotechnological solutions.

Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Nikolaevich Esaulko and Associate Professor of the Basic Department of General Agriculture, Plant Growing, Breeding and Seed Production named after V.I. prof. F.I. Bobryshev, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Elena Borisovna Drepa visited the breeding nursery of the Scientific Research Center "Stavropol Seed Breeding Station", which is part of the KVN-Agro group of companies.

Since 2013, the company has been actively working on growing seeds of varieties of winter rapeseed, flax, winter wheat, and domestic peas. The company has long established its own production of seeds of these elite crops and the first reproductions. But recently, the company's employees have been developing such a priority area as the selection of winter wheat. The company already has several lines, which will soon be transferred to the state variety testing.

The company plans to further increase the number of partners in the Stavropol Territory and beyond, create a network of agricultural and warehouse branches in the region, expand trading activities for the purchase of agricultural products and joint selection work with scientific institutions of the region.

The heads of the holding, candidates of agricultural sciences Roman Nikolaevich Musov and Viktor Viktorovich Myasoedov spoke about the work in the field of selection and seed production of winter wheat, about the development of the material and technical base and plans for the future.

During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of joint work in the direction of breeding and seed production and outlined ways to solve the set goals with joint scientific cooperation.
