Any domestic modern coin has an inscription: "Bank of Russia". For more than 120 years, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation has been issuing money: for everyday settlements and special ones - commemorative coins made of precious and non-precious metals, real small sculptures. As part of the cooperation agreement between the Stavropol State Agrarian University and the Stavropol Territory Branch of the Southern State Administration of the Bank of Russia, an exhibition "Coins of Glory" was opened in the building of economics and finance.
Head of the Department of Financial Management and Banking Yulia Mikhailovna Sklyarova and Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Management and Banking Lyudmila Anatolyevna Latysheva conducted an excursion around the "Coins of Glory" exhibition for 2nd year students of economic specialization.
At the exhibition, students got acquainted with the images of the magnificent works of art by Russian medalists - commemorative sports coins. The basis of the exposition is made up of photos with enlarged images of coins, which allows you to see all the subtleties of the drawing, as well as information about their history and interesting details of their creation. The coins depict events and victories, names and records that convey the brightness and dynamics of the sports history of our country.
The exhibition is complemented by catalogs selected by the Historical Library, essays and articles on sports numismatics, memoirs and biographies of famous Russian athletes, as well as literature on the events to which the release of one or another commemorative coin was timed - books about the 1980 Olympics, the Universiade, the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and many others. It should be noted that it is in this project that for the first time the exhibition of the Museum of the Bank of Russia and the exhibits of the State Public Historical Library are combined.
The first issue of sports coins was timed to coincide with the 1980 Moscow Olympics - these were the very famous “Olympic rubles”. Since then, commemorative coins of this theme have been issued regularly; currently, about 200 coins have already been dedicated to sports. The exposition will be of interest to everyone who is not indifferent to history, literature and art.
You can see the exhibition on the 2nd floor of the building of economics and finance.
