Participation in the 34th General Assembly of the European Association of Veterinary Institutions Education (EAEVE)

02.10.2021

EAEVE is Europe's largest non-governmental association of higher veterinary institutions, coordinating the work and adherence of training standards in veterinary specialties in Europe. Stavropol State Agrarian University became a member of the EAEVE General Assembly.

Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Biotechnology, Professor Valentin Sergeevich Skripkin took part in the 34th General Assembly of the European Association of Veterinary Education Institutions.

The main mission of EAEVE is to assess, promote and further develop the quality and standards of veterinary institutions and their training in the Member States of the European Union (EU) and other countries, and the main goal is to oversee the harmonization of the minimum standards set in the training program for veterinary surgeons in the Directive European Union. This is done through the European Veterinary Education Evaluation System, which is administered by EAEVE, but with joint responsibility with the Federation of Veterinarians in Europe (FVE).

Also, EAEVE allows for stronger collaboration between member institutions and serves as a forum for discussion to improve and harmonize veterinary education. Additional tasks are to facilitate the exchange of information, the exchange of staff, students and the exchange of teaching materials between members. Members are faculties, schools and universities dedicated to teaching and research in veterinary medicine and science.

The General Assembly was attended by 320 delegates. In total, this organization includes institutions from 48 countries. At the General Assembly, a number of issues related to the activities of the organization itself were considered and approved: the president's report on the work done, the financial report, the results of the audit, etc., and issues related to the quality of education. So one of the tendencies was that the majority of veterinary universities in various countries are moving away from keeping a large number of animals for educational purposes and the share of the private sector in the implementation of practical skills of students is increasing (attracting private clinics and farms for practical training). Also, adjustments were made to the accreditation procedure for universities in a pandemic.

The main visit of EAEVE experts on accreditation of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Stavropol State Agrarian University in accordance with international standards of veterinary education SOP-2019 is scheduled for May 2021.
