During the tour of the garden, students visited the rockery, areas of the plant collection fund and the greenhouse.
The area of the botanical garden is more than 130 hectares, of which 93 hectares - permanent plantations, and 20 hectares - natural broad-leaved forest area with a protected regime, introduction and production nurseries and economic complex.
In the Botanical Garden operates a laboratory of flora and vegetation, a laboratory of floriculture, introduction of new species and dendrology. Employees of the garden are engaged in the selection of ornamental plants. Specialists of "botany" conducted a tour for the first-year students of Stavropol State Agrarian University. The students gained a lot of useful knowledge from the field of their future profession.
Students learned that the Stavropol Botanical Garden is the largest introductory institution in the South of Russia, both by area and by the composition of collections and scientific developments. The garden has 17 collections of about 5 thousand species of living plants from different climatic zones of the world.
At the senior courses of the future landscape designers will have an excellent opportunity to pass industrial practice on the basis of the botanical garden.
