International Symposium “Soil Health. Main indicators and evaluation criteria”

Employees of the Department of Soil Science named after professor V.I. Tyulpanov, as part of the events dedicated to the Day of Russian Science, held an International Symposium on the topical and actively developing direction of agriculture "Soil Health". The event was held jointly with scientists from the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy.

The event was opened by the dean of the faculties of agrobiology and land resources, ecology and landscape architecture, professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Nikolaevich Esaulko. He delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the symposium, noted the existing experience of successful joint work of scientists from our universities and the prospects for further cooperation. Alexander Nikolayevich noted that the issues of rational use of soil resources and the introduction of precision farming technologies in agriculture are of great scientific and practical importance, and therefore they are implemented within the framework of the Priority 2030 grant.

Olga Nikolaevna Pisetskaya, Dean of the Faculty of Land Management of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, spoke on behalf of our foreign partners. Addressing the participants of the event, she noted the significant success of our scientists in the field of the symposium topics.

Tamara Nikolaevna Myslyva, Head of the Department of Geodesy and Photogrammetry, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor, made a report “Precision farming in the Republic of Belarus: problems and development prospects in the context of the national farming system”. She spoke about the problems and prospects of introducing the system of precision farming in the Republic of Belarus, and shared her experience in conducting research to study the effectiveness of the application of this system in the conditions of the educational farm of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy.

The main speaker on the intended topic of the event was the head of the Department of Soil Science named after Professor V.I. Tyulpanov, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Valery Sergeevich Tskhovrebov. He provided information on the parameters of health and functioning of the soil as a living and dynamic ecosystem. Valery Sergeevich spoke about possible negative processes occurring in soils that are actively and irrationally used in agriculture.

The event was also attended by the head of the department of land management and cadastre, doctor of geographical sciences, associate professor Alexander Viktorovich Loshakov and deputy dean for scientific work, candidate of agricultural sciences Timur Soltanovich Aisanov, as well as students, undergraduates and graduate students of the faculty.

Holding such events contributes to the acquisition of new knowledge and experience by students, as well as strengthening the scientific cooperation of our scientists with strategic partners.
