We would remind you that the Stavropol State Agrarian University has won the federal programme "Priority 2030", the largest in the history of Russia's federal programme for the state support of universities. The programme for the development of Stavropol State Agrarian and Industrial University "Agroinnovopolis 2030" has brought the victory to the university. By the target date the university will have become the leading scientific and educational centre of the region and the country.
In his report, Valentin Sergeyevich outlined the most important problems in the agricultural sector of the region: reducing livestock, decreasing soil fertility, desertification of arable land in eastern regions, the outflow of young people from rural areas, etc. To solve them, the university is establishing new research centres in the following areas: breeding, genetics, biotechnology, digitalisation of agriculture, alternative energy and energy saving, precision farming, organic farming, sustainable development of rural areas.
"We did not enter this project with empty baggage. In particular, we are working closely with the region's breeding farms. We are restoring livestock in dairy farming, and increasing the productivity and longevity of animals. In 2021, the university's laboratory for selective milk quality control was upgraded at a cost of over RUB 30 million. This will make it possible for the first time in Russia to select dairy cattle for the fatty acid and protein composition of milk and create unique functional dairy products. Plans for 2022 include setting up new centres and laboratories. This will make it possible to increase the protein and fat content of raw milk by 15-25%," said the head of the university.
StSAU is also developing new technologies to preserve soil quality, biological farming, sustainable development of agriculture (production of agricultural products without harming the environment).
To this end, the agrochemical analysis laboratory has been modernised and new centres are being equipped together with partners OOO Syngenta, AO Bayer, AO Energomera and PJSC PhosAgro. The Primary Nursery Production Centre was launched and the Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratory was renovated. A Breeding and Seed Production Centre is being established to breed adaptive and high-yield varieties and hybrids of grain and forage crops for the SCFD and a Soil Microbiology Centre to develop new fertility restoration technologies and create microbial preparations, which will reduce the negative impact of fertilisers and chemicals by 10-15%.
To prevent the exodus of young people from villages, the project "Sustainable Development of Rural Areas" is being implemented in Agrarny. An inter-regional resource centre for the development of rural and specially protected eco-resort areas in Stavropol Krai and the North Caucasus Federal District has been set up, and the level and quality of life of rural residents in Stavropol Krai is being monitored.
The Agrokadry 2030 strategic project is designed to provide the Krai's agricultural sector with a new generation of specialists and managers. The aim is to establish a pilot system for training modern professionals, taking into account the transition of the agro-industrial complex to a new technological paradigm.
StGAU already runs programmes for advanced training and additional vocational education. More than 7 thousand students were trained under 111 programmes, and in two years their number will exceed 15 thousand people.
"It is hardly feasible for us to implement the above plans on our own. That is why we are implementing them together with our partners. These are relevant ministries and agencies, leading agricultural and industrial enterprises, IT companies, leading universities and research institutes. Most of the projects implemented in 2021 were the result of cooperation with organisations that are members of the consortium. These are Timiryazev Academy, Dagestan State Agrarian University, Gorsky State Agrarian University and Kabardino-Balkarsky State Agrarian University. Five enterprises - members of the consortium - have acted as R&D customers. We have already achieved most of the key indicators of university development set by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. We plan to continue to maintain a good pace in the given directions," said the head of St. Petersburg State Agrarian University.
At the end of his report, Valentin Skripkin expressed special gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture and the curator of the industry, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the SK Vladimir Nikolaevich Sitnikov.
Having heard the report, the regional Duma deputies appreciated the university's contribution to the socio-economic development of Stavropol Territory and promised all possible support for the implementation of the programme, which entails the development of the entire region.
