Conference “What does it mean to be a patriot?” dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

An interesting discussion took place on a very topical and frequently raised problem of patriotism, which causes a wide range of opinions in Russian society and among students. The conference was attended by teachers and students of the accounting and financial faculty, the faculty of secondary vocational education and the faculty of agrobiology and land resources.

Welcoming words to the participants were said by the organizers of the conference:

Head of the Department of Philosophy and History of SSAU, Professor Evgeny Vasilyevich Tufanov,

Chairman of the Council of Veterans of SSAU Nikolai Gavrilovich Guzynin,

Professor of the Department of Philosophy and History of SSAU Sergey Petrovich Zolotarev.

In his opening speech, Evgeny Vasilyevich Tufanov outlined the importance of the value of patriotism for the development of Russian society. He also showed an important role in the patriotic education of young people of preserving the continuity of traditions and historical memory of the heroic pages of Russian history.

In his lengthy speech, Nikolai Gavrilovich Guzynin convincingly showed the multifaceted content of patriotism, which manifests itself in the fact that he positions himself not only as a concept, but also as an idea and value. The speaker reasonably focused attention on fostering patriotism “from below” in the minds of Russians as the most effective way to form patriotic feelings and beliefs. He also emphasized the integrating and consolidating role of patriotism for Russian society, within which, in his opinion, attempts to split society on the basis of “patriot-traitor” are unacceptable, posing a threat to the successful and dynamic movement of Russia forward.

In the discussion of the problems of patriotism, the speakers were asked various questions and exhaustive answers were received on them. The event was not without detailed speeches of students who expressed their opinion about patriotism.

1^st year students Amina Bayramova and Igor Serakov in their speeches shared with the participants of the event their thoughts and arguments on the issue of patriotism. The event evoked a lively and approving response from many of the students present at it.
