Seminar “Ensuring security in the insurance sector”

Ensuring economic security in the insurance sector is extremely relevant and necessary from a practical point of view. Many insurance companies have security services. The purpose of their activity is to ensure the security of insurance companies, prevent the leakage of commercial and confidential information, identify and timely prevent possible infringements on the legitimate rights and interests of the insurance company, and help the company’s managers in making certain decisions.

In order to consider the practical aspects of ensuring security in the insurance sector at the Accounting and Finance Faculty, teachers of the Department of Finance, Credit and Insurance Business organized a seminar together with a specialist from the insurance company Sovcombank Life Lyubov Petrovna Stetsyuk.

During the event, issues of ensuring economic security and monitoring potential customers of insurance companies were highlighted.

Quite interesting was the information on the details of the criteria that potential clients must meet in order for them to be approved of the possibility of concluding an insurance contract in this company. It turned out that not all points are obvious to clients who are being interviewed, the specialist must take into account many aspects of the financial and social condition of the client in order to make a decision about his possible insurance.

The speaker of the event showed the students the tools of a financial consultant: a questionnaire, a medical questionnaire, a financial questionnaire, a portrait of a client, and gave several specific examples of insurance fraud in Sovcombank Life. Lyubov Petrovna focused on the fact that one of the main tasks in protecting the insurance business is connected precisely with minimizing the risks of fraud.

Finally, the changes in the legislation that were taken just to protect the rights of consumers (against fraud) in March 2022 were analyzed.

Together with the speaker, the students reasoned, argued, asked targeted qualitative questions.

Each of those present received not only new competencies on the practical aspects of the security of the insurance business, but also received exhaustive answers from the speaker to the questions asked.
