Development of selection and seed production in the North Caucasus region in the context of the implementation of the import substitution policy

Breeding and seed production of agricultural crops is a priority direction for the development of the agro-industrial complex of Russia. A round table was held at the Boiling Point of SSAU where the development of breeding and seed production in the North Caucasus region was discussed in the context of the implementation of the import substitution policy.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences. Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Esaulko Alexander Nikolaevich. With an introductory speech, the head of the basic department of general agriculture, crop production, selection and seed production named after F.I. Bobryshev, doctor of agricultural sciences, Professor Vlasova Olga Ivanovna.

Invited guests spoke at the round table. Oleg Vladimirovich Kondratenko, head of the branch of the State Variety Commission for the Stavropol Territory, made a report on the topic “State variety testing and zoning of varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops in the Stavropol Territory”.

Head of the Department of Selection and Primary Seed Production of Forage Crops and Medicinal Herbs, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Chumakova Vera Vladimirovna told about the main directions of breeding and seed production of fodder and medicinal herbs of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "North Caucasian Scientific Agrarian Center".

Deputy director for scientific work of the branch of the FGBNU VNIIMK, candidate of agricultural sciences Frolov Sergey Sergeevich made a presentation on the topic “Sunflower breeding in the Federal Scientific Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Oilseeds named after V.S. Pustovoit”.

The director of the Hammer breeding and seed center Smakuev Amirkhan Dagirovich spoke about maize seed production on the basis of the Hammer breeding and seed production center.

The round table was attended by all the leading associate professors of the basic department of general agriculture, crop production, breeding and seed production named after. F.I. Bobrysheva and students of the direction "Agronomy".

During the speech, the speakers answered a number of questions related to the problems and prospects for the development of the industry.
