What will tourism be like in 2050?

29.09.2022

This week, the Faculty of Socio-Cultural Service and Tourism of Stavropol State Agrarian University celebrated its 10th anniversary and looked into the future at a foresight session where students fantasized about what the tourism sector would look like in 2050.

On September 29, a foresight session was held at the Faculty of Socio-Cultural Service and Tourism of SSAU, where students fantasized about what the tourism sector will look like in 2050. In their opinion, by the 50th year tourism will be divided into VIP and economy. Blogger tours will be even more popular. Tourists in the future will pay more attention to the style of the hotel and choose routes with places for unusual photos. The guys predict the development of virtual tourism and the use of digital assistants for the selection of a tour.

Throughout the past week, anniversary events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of its formation were held at the faculty.

"The Faculty of Socio-Cultural Service and Tourism is the youngest in our university. Despite the fact that it is not a profile for an agricultural university, in this short period of time we have created a unique material and technical base, which many specialized universities do not have. We have assembled a wonderful teaching staff. Graduates of the faculty are in great demand, which they are very happy about. We hope that our innovations, such as the Chinese language school, opened this year, will help train in—demand specialists for Stavropol and the whole country," said Valentin Skripkin, Acting Rector of SSAU, in his welcoming speech at the Solemn Meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the faculty.

Today, the faculty has three departments: foreign languages; Pedagogy, Psychology and Sociology, and Tourism and Service, as well as the Language Forum training center. Training is carried out in three specialties: "Technology of logistics services and transport services", "Tour operator and travel agency activities", "Service of hotel and restaurant, sports, entertainment complexes". The faculty has 155 full-time bachelors and 17 part-time undergraduates, 36 research and teaching staff and support staff. For 10 years, the faculty has graduated 557 specialists who work both in the Stavropol Territory and far beyond its borders.

"Graduates of SSAU work in the city department of entrepreneurship and tourism. This year, together with agricultural teachers, we wrote a strategy for the development of the city of Stavropol, in which a large block is devoted to tourism. One of the most important development trends for our city is education and youth policy. There are plans to create a research and innovation center. And we are counting on Stavropol State Agrarian University and its scientists and graduates," said Karine Nikitina, First Deputy Head of the Committee for Economic Development and Trade of the Stavropol City Administration.

Students of the Faculty of Socio-Cultural Service and Tourism of SSAU regularly participate in various competitions and become its winners. Since 2018, SSAU has been taking gold in the National Intercollegiate Championship "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia). Its students become nominal fellows of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Stavropol Territory, the Government and the Duma of the Stavropol Territory.

"A well-planned educational activity on the basis of the agrarian university allows our students to take prizes in Russian competitions and get a good job after graduation. We have a lot of practical and project classes. If we study sports and wellness services, then we study in the gym. If it's a restaurant business, it will be in the kitchen, or in a catering service company. If it's a hotel business, then we have a harmful client who arranges a conflict situation, and we successfully cope with it. If we cook, then there is a foreign cook at the faculty who teaches national cuisine.", - shared the methods of teaching the acting dean of the Faculty of Socio—Cultural Service and Tourism, Candidate of Economic Sciences Anna Ivolga.
