Agronomy students learned about the intricacies of crop protection and seed production and how to gain a major company scholarship

SSAU hosted a series of events for students of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources from representatives of the large agricultural company Syngenta. Students listened to lectures on the theory of plant protection and learned how to become a company scholarship holder.

The head of the Volgograd division of Syngenta, Alexander Kitaev, gave a lecture for students of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources, studying in the field of Agronomy. He spoke about the history of the company, its structure and main activities, and also answered questions from the audience about production. Students took part in a small quiz in which they showed their knowledge in the field of plant protection.

Leading specialists of the company also spoke at the lecture. Ivan Filin (an event manager for the South region) and Igor Nosov (a field expert for working with key clients of regional agricultural holdings) talked about how they went from being a student to a prestigious position in the company.

Liliya Shavalieva, the training specialist of the company, contacted the students remotely. She spoke about the current scholarship program "Students of Syngenta - 2023". To become a scholarship holder of the organization, you need to write an essay on the topic “Why do I want to do an internship in the company?”, prepare an abstract on any of the recommended topics and defend your work. According to the results of the competitive selection in the Rostov Region, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, only 11 people will become scholarship holders of the company, the amount of the monthly scholarship will be 20,000 rubles. In addition to financial rewards, students will get a unique opportunity to do an internship at Syngenta LLC.

Syngenta has been producing crop protection and seed products for 22 years. Syngenta is one of the world's leading employers in the field of biotechnology and is the best employer in agriculture. For more than 10 years, the boundaries of interaction between Stavropol State Agrarian University and the company have been expanding, research activities are being carried out jointly, in 2020, a training class of Syngenta LLC was opened on the basis of the Agrarian University, over 35 students of the departments of agrobiology and land resources became named scholarship holders of the company during the period of joint work, ecology and landscape architecture. Most of the employees of the limited liability company are graduates of Stavropol State Agrarian University.
