12.12.2022

The Faculty of Economics hosted a round table “The role of investments in ensuring the socio-economic development of rural areas”.

The central theme of the round table was the development of rural areas in Russia, their lack of funding, backwardness from cities. The main speaker Tamara Shiyanova, consultant of the department for the development of investment activities and public-private partnerships of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Stavropol Territory, revealed the features of regulating investment activities in agriculture, and also shared the practical aspects of the work of the ministry in assessing the social efficiency of investment projects planned for implementation at the rural level. municipalities. The students discussed the issues of investing in the production component as the basis for the development of the territories of the municipalities of the region.

Research of rural areas is also carried out in SSAU under the program “Agroinnopolis – 2030” within the framework of “Priority 2030”. The main goal is to build an effective socio-economic strategy for their development. University scientists have been conducting a large-scale survey of all municipal districts of the Stavropol Territory for more than a year in order to identify key and adjacent rural areas, form criteria and assess for compliance with the living standards of the population. The data obtained during the implementation of the projects will form the basis of the interactive visualization platform “Digital Profiles of Rural Areas of the North Caucasus Federal District”, which includes more than 16 layers with data on the socio-economic and demographic potential of the rural areas of the region.

- Attracting investment in agriculture is one of the key issues in the development of the economy of rural areas, since investment is always an impetus for development. The implementation of investment projects ensures the creation of new jobs, reduces the unemployment rate, attracts financial resources to the economy of municipalities, provides additional tax deductions to the budgets of various levels, which subsequently go to the implementation of infrastructure projects and programs. All this increases the attractiveness of rural areas and contributes to their socio-economic development,” said Tamara Shiyanova, consultant of the department for the development of investment activities and public-private partnerships of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Stavropol Territory.
