The textbook for universities "Breeding and breeding of poultry" has been republished for the third time by the Lan’ Publishing House, because the entire circulation was sold out. Thanks to its concise and easy-to-read form, the book is popular both among students and among graduate students, researchers and specialists of livestock enterprises.
The textbook "Breeding and breeding of poultry" was created in 2015 by a team of researchers from Stavropol Agrarian University. LLC "Lan’ Publishing House" appealed to the staff of the SSAU with a request to acquire the rights to the benefit for another 7 years and republish the book for the third time, since the entire circulation of the book was sold out.
Unlike thick textbooks, the manual consists of only 68 pages, but at the same time includes all the necessary blocks of information on the topic of poultry farming: feeding, production, eggs, etc. Materials on breeding work in poultry farming based on scientific achievements and best practices of poultry enterprises are presented in a concise and easy-to-understand form, in the simplest and most modern language. Despite the fact that this is not exactly a classic textbook, the manual meets all the requirements of the educational material, contains control questions, self-test questions and a list of references.
Each new edition is supplemented and improved in accordance with changes in production, based on the experience of real enterprises. The manual is used by full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students, specialists of livestock enterprises, researchers and graduate students.
The advantages of the book were told by its author, Professor of Stavropol State University Elena Epimakhova:
― Of course, there are textbooks, I have written three myself. But now, in the age of fast information, students do not want to read a large 300-page material. Our manual covers all the main issues very quickly. This is not a textbook as such, but its vision of poultry farming in modern language ― not scientific, but concise. It reads very quickly, the information is presented succinctly and concisely, and therefore it diverges very well both in paper and electronic versions.
I study this material with students, but I refine it every year. I teach students that you can't read manuals from 10 years ago. With all due respect to the classics, our poultry industry is very dynamic, and everything is changing rapidly, so we have to constantly make some adjustments. Now production is radically different from what it was 10 years ago, and this development process is continuous.
Now I am working on a breeding plan for the Stavropol Broiler. Prior to that, she conducted professional development for their employees and used the manual as a training material. Everyone said how nice it was for them to learn from it, because everyone read and mastered the information as quickly as possible.
Elena Epimakhova, Professor of the Department of Private Animal Husbandry, Breeding and Breeding of Animals, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Technological Management for Educational Work, Associate Professor Vladislav Zakotin and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnological Faculty, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Valentin Skripkin worked on the textbook.
