SSAU students know how to make a comprehensive environmental assessment of the territory

In the Stavropol Territory branch of the Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements, a lesson was held on the discipline “Comprehensive environmental assessment of the territory” for students of the direction “Ecology and nature management”.

The organizers of the field laboratory lesson were the assistant of the Department of Ecology and Landscape Architecture - Valeria Khalikova and the director of the Central Laboratory for the Stavropol Territory - Mikhail Babansky.

The branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “CENTER FOR LABORATORY ANALYSIS AND TECHNICAL MEASUREMENTS in the Southern Federal District” - CENTER FOR LABORATORY ANALYSIS AND TECHNICAL MEASUREMENTS in the Stavropol Territory - is one of the largest environmental organizations in the region, with which the Stavropol State Agrarian University has been cooperating for more than 10 years.

A tour of the testing laboratory of the branch was organized for students, where they got acquainted with the main methods of eco-analytical research and performed laboratory work on the topic “Methods for bio indication of ecosystem pollution”. The purpose of a comprehensive environmental assessment of the territory is to identify natural and anthropogenic factors of environmental hazard and determine the scale and intensity of their manifestation in a particular territory. When conducting a comprehensive environmental assessment of the territory, the following tasks are solved: zoning of the assessed territory according to the permissible and excess anthropogenic load on environmental components, determining the structure of the anthropogenic load with a characteristic of the impact of techno sphere objects on the components, and identifying and assessing environmental risks.

“Such events allow students to see in practice how the knowledge and skills that they receive at the university can be implemented. A huge plus for the guys is that they can try themselves in the directions that are of interest to them. Within the framework of cooperation with the Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements, students undergo an internship, where they can assess the state of the environment in the Stavropol Territory, see how environmental protection measures are implemented at enterprises and use the knowledge gained in defending diploma and candidate theses, - Assistant of the Department of Ecology and Landscape architecture by Valery Khalikov.
