A testing ground for the study of "green" energy will be created at the Stavropol Agrarian University

28.02.2023

The largest site in the south of the country for studying renewable energy sources will appear on the territory of the Stavropol State Agrarian University.

The unique training complex will include six small wind turbines, several dozen solar panels, as well as a heat pump and a solar energy concentrator combined with a water heating installation. The total capacity of the site will be about 44 kW. According to preliminary calculations, the power plants will be able to generate up to 150 thousand kWh of "green" energy per year.

— The first serious steps towards the development of wind energy in Russia have already been taken. Large wind power plants were built in the Republic of Adygea, Kalmykia, Rostov region. In four years, five wind farms have been launched in the Stavropol Territory alone, and two more are being built. That is why it is important for us now to prepare a personnel reserve that will ensure the operation of future renewable energy facilities both in the Stavropol Territory and far beyond its borders,” Vladimir Sitnikov, Acting Rector of SSAU, emphasized.

15 million rubles were allocated for the construction of the facility. The project is financed through the state program for supporting universities "Priority 2030". The launch of the landfill is scheduled for 2023.
