All-Russian conference dedicated to the 78th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in SSAU

The Stavropol State Agrarian University hosted the annual All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference “The Significance and Role of the Soviet Union in the Victory over Nazi Germany and its Allies during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. New look and understanding”, organized by the Department of Philosophy and History.

Events in honor of the 78th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War began at the Stavropol Agrarian University. The university administration, together with the Department of Philosophy and History, organized an all-Russian conference on the significance and role of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazi Germany and its allies. The main areas of work were the supply of food to the troops in the battle for the Caucasus and the agricultural aspect, as an invaluable contribution to the Victory over Nazi Germany; criticism and falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War; the feat of the participants in the defense of the hero cities Sevastopol, Kerch, Novorossiysk and Ordzhonikidze; medicine and resorts of the North Caucasus during the war; defense and economic recovery of the South of Russia; the reunification of Crimea in 2014; Cossacks during the Great Patriotic War.

- Now there is a reassessment of many values, revolutionary changes in education, humanitarian approaches and competencies. Preparations are underway for the introduction of the new discipline “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” from September this year, large projects on the discipline “Service to Russia” are being discussed, and the project “DNA of Russia” has been developed. The state is rethinking approaches to patriotic education in order to preserve historical memory and prevent the falsification of historical facts. These issues are synchronized with the work of our conference, which we have traditionally been holding for several years on the eve of May 9, ”Professor Ivan Atanov, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy, delivered a welcoming speech.

The conference was attended by representatives of 23 educational institutions, as well as museums and military-patriotic organizations from 15 Russian cities. Among the participants are historians, political scientists, experts in the field of international relations, state and municipal employees, archival and museum specialists, teachers of higher educational institutions, representatives of military-patriotic and other public organizations, as well as undergraduates and graduate students of humanitarian areas of training.

- In the current political situation, without preserving historical memory, we will not save ourselves, without this we will lose ourselves. We have been in a state of war for 9 years, and only the memory of our grandfathers gave us the strength to rise up against the fascist coup. It is very important for us that now we have become part of the Russian Federation, we are united by our historical past, including the memory of the Great Patriotic War. It is gratifying that the Stavropol Agrarian University holds conferences of such a level that give us the opportunity to communicate with each other and understand how to move forward, because it is not only about the development of science, but also about how this science realizes itself in the upbringing of future generations who will build a great country, - shared the head of the Department of History of Russia and Slavic Peoples of the Donetsk National University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Oksana Borisovna Penkova.

— This is the second time we have come to your conference, for which we are very grateful to the rector of the university and the residents of the region. A number of conferences and round tables make it possible to find the golden mean, the very truth and prove that we are not rewriting history, but are trying to convey that history is cyclical. Today, the same thing is happening as during the Great Patriotic War, and these are the methods of the same fascists who operate on the territory of Donbass. It needs to be stopped. Now we are drawing on the experience of past years, everything that our ancestors used, these methods were very successful, they are proven by history, - said Tatyana Udalova, Associate Professor of the Department of Regional History of Donetsk National University, Candidate of Historical Sciences.

The first day of the conference ended with an excursion to the Stavropol State Historical, Cultural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve named after G. N. Prozritelev and G. K. Prave. On the second day, the SSAU library organized round tables “On the decisive contribution of the Red Army to the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition” and “On the origins of the heroism of the Soviet people. The Red Army and the Home Front during the Great Patriotic War.
