24.03.2023

At the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture for 2nd year students, a cycle of classes was held to study the patterns of the effects of toxicants on living organisms.

As part of laboratory and practical classes in the discipline "Ecological toxicology", students studied the effect of pesticides on test objects, for which they laid a series of experiments to determine the toxicity of various concentrations and methods of introducing insecticidal preparations into the habitat of insects; determination of phytotoxicity of preparations with fungicidal action on seed germination; extracts of plants containing alkaloids, glycosides and other biologically active substances on the energy of germination and seed germination. Pollutants fall out with precipitation and accumulate in the snow cover in winter, in the surface layer of the soil in the warm season. Therefore, the experiments of students on the determination of snow and rainwater pollution by biotesting using such objects as duckweed, daphnia, brine shrimp have become traditional.

— Conducting such classes allows us to try our hand at research work, study some areas of a comprehensive environmental assessment of ecosystems, and gain practical skills in working in a laboratory. In addition, based on the results of such classes, you can write an article and publish it in the collection of the student conference, which is important for those guys who plan to participate in various scholarship programs, continue their studies in the magistracy or connect their lives with science, - shared the students of the 2nd year of the direction "Ecology and environmental management".
