In 2023, the staff of the laboratory of agrochemical analysis of the SSAU plans to conduct an agrochemical survey, as well as soil and plant diagnostics of winter wheat crops on an area of more than 240 thousand hectares. Compared with the previous year, scientists expect to increase the volume of research by 2 times.
The results of this work will help Stavropol agrarians to determine the optimal doses of nitrogen fertilizers, as well as to carry out early spring nitrogen fertilizing in a timely and high-quality manner.
Participation in the state university support program "Priority 2030" allows SSAU scientists to increase the amount of research conducted. With her help, the Stavropol State Agrarian University expanded its material and technical base by purchasing the latest equipment: a powerful ionometer, an optical emission spectrometer with inductively coupled plasma, and sets of Edelman drills - hand-held samplers suitable for each type of soil.
— Within the framework of the new vector of the university development, which was outlined by the rector Vladimir Sitnikov, we are intensifying work in the field of educational and research activities with leading concerns, agricultural holdings and agricultural producers of the region. A closer format of cooperation opens up new opportunities for practical training of students, - said the head of the Department of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Evgeny Golosnoy.
Employees of the laboratory of agrochemical analysis have already performed soil diagnostics of winter wheat crops for early spring nitrogen fertilization on an area of more than 70 thousand hectares in 11 municipalities of the Stavropol Territory. As part of the trips, scientists determine the reserves of productive moisture in a meter-long soil profile, the content of various forms of nitrogen and mobile phosphorus.
