SSAU students learned how to carry out spring pruning of the garden

On the territory of the intensive garden of the experimental station of SSAU for students of the direction of preparation "Agronomy" and "Gardening" a master class was held on pruning fruit trees from representatives of LLC «Trunovskiye Sady».

Pruning is one of the main methods of agricultural technology in the cultivation of fruit plantations using modern intensive technologies. The master class was held by the chief agronomist Olga Alekseevna Matushkina and the foreman of the horticultural department Vladimir Viktorovich Sivakov. Olga Alekseevna spoke about the basic principles of pruning fruit trees, showed students the types of apple fruit formations and explained the need for annual pruning of trees in an intensive garden. The company's specialists also demonstrated to students the methods of forming the main types of tree crowns in intensive trellis orchards, they were given the opportunity to practice pruning trellis-type orchards, which includes 7 varieties of apple trees: Golden Delicious, Golden Delicious Rangers, Gala, Champion, Piros, Braeburn, Jeromini.

— The use of practice-oriented methods of preparing students, which are widely used in our faculties, is of great importance. This is facilitated by the powerful material and technical base of the educational and experimental farm, created with the support of the leadership of the university and faculties. Conducting on-site practical classes on the basis of Students obtaining practical skills in various competencies is accompanied by simultaneous familiarization of employers with our students and helps to increase the level of employment of graduates, - said the Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources and the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Esaulko.

The training master class for students was organized at the initiative of the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Doctor of Economics, Professor Alexei Bobryshev, Dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources and Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Esaulko, Deputy Dean for Science, Associate Professor of the Department of Production and Processing of Foodstuffs from Vegetable Raw Materials, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Timur Aisanov. Vitaly Velichko, Head of the Laboratory of Agricultural Biotechnologies, and Director of the Training and Experimental Farm, Associate Professor of the Department of Agrochemistry and Plant Physiology, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Alexander Voskoboinikov took part in the practical field master class for students.
