Our student gets first gold at 27th Summer Universiade!

On July 7, the high diving event was launching at the 27th World University Summer Games in Kazan.
Our student EvgenyKuznetsov took the first place at the 3m springboard diving competition and became the first gold medallist of the Russian national team at the 27th Summer Universiade Kazan 2013. In the finals, Kuznetsov got 496.15 points and got ahead of the silver medallist Jin Lin (488.90), the sportsman from China.His partner in synchronized jumps Olympics champion IlyaZakharov (460,15) took the sixth place,
Yevgeny Kuznetsov congratulated Team Russia on its first Kazan gold saying: “It’s great! It means we are gaining pace.”
“It was a long way to victory for me. And I believe it’s well deserved, because I worked hard and set my mind on victory at this tournament,” Kuznetsov said.
The Universiade victor thanked his fans who left no seat vacant at the Water Sports palace. “The support was really fantastic. At such moments as this I feel greatly motivated,” he confessed.
Kuznetsov also told reporters he won’t have a break till after synchronized jumps with Ilya Zakharov. “We are yet to jump with Ilya Zakharov. The training begins on 8 July. I am set to repeat today’s success in other disciplines,” he said.
