Russian President visited Agrarian University

On June 18, 2014 the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin visited Stavropol State Agrarian University. First he was met by rector Vladimir Trukhachev, welcoming the honoured guest, he invited Vladimir to get acquainted with the exhibition of agricultural machinery which students use in teaching and experimental farm of the university.

The President was interested first of all in where this equipment is made. The student of the Faculty of Farm Mechanization Roman Karabut told Vladimir Putin that the self-propelled sprayer of John Deere is produced in Domodedovo near Moscow and harvester Teriion which was presented to the student team of SSAU as the best one in Russia by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, is manufactured in Tambov.

The students showed Vladimir Putin the equipment for precision farming. "Thanks to it, you can quickly determine the chemical composition of the soil, how much fertilizer it lacks, and then make some kind of a soil map of the field and using the sprayer with gps-navigation system to apply the exact amount of fertilizer to certain parts of the field," - said the student of the Faculty of Farm Mechanization Andrey Panasenko.

Vladimir Putin was also interested in mobile veterinary care machine. The student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Raisa Ignatieva told the President that the machine is equipped with everything necessary to diagnose an illness, provide first aid, resuscitation and even to conduct an operation.

The last object which the President came to was a superlight aircraft giroplan. "On it, using special cameras, we are monitoring the land and can determine the depletion of soil and corrosion, the density of seedlings and even the presence of weeds in the field," - explained the postgraduate student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Land Resources Dmitry Ivannikov. Vladimir Putin asked whether it is frightful to fly? "The first time it was frightful," - admitted Dmitry.

"I read in the information about your university that almost 100% of your graduates are employed. And where do you plan to work?", - said the Russian President to the students of Agrarian University. The students assured that everyone is going to return to the village and work on the development of the agricultural sector of the country.

The visit of the President to the Stavropol Territory was also devoted to the 60 th anniversary of the movement of student production brigades, which originated in our region. In SSAU Vladimir Putin met the first-year student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Natural Resources Angelina Anisimova, who a year ago was the winner of the meeting and was able to enroll in Agricultural University having a special purpose assignment. "I have long dreamed about it and I am very glad to study at this university" - said Angelina. "You did a good job, I wish you further success," - said Vladimir Putin.

Later students and teachers of SSAU could take a picture with the President of Russia.

Then inside Agrarian University a meeting on the development of agriculture in the Russian Federation was held. It was attended by Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, plenipotentiary representative of the President in the North Caucasus Federal District Sergei Melikov, Acting Governor of the Stavropol Territory, Vladimir Vladimirov, governors of Belgorod, Voronezh and Rostov regions, the leaders of the National Union of Milk Producers, Agribusiness Union of Russia, the National Union of Grain Producers, National Meat Association, and representatives of the business community and financial institutions.
