During the meeting, chaired by the Head of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, the participants discussed the direction of modern agricultural technology and government policy in this area in the coming years.
In particular, Dmitry Medvedev said that today innovation manifested in virtually all segments of agriculture: the established and new plant varieties, new types of fertilizers, new methods of raising animals, new ways of processing and recycling products.
The Prime Minister also drew attention of the participants to the fact that the overall objective of government, business, scientific organizations, development institutes, agricultural universities is to create conditions under which all the achievements of agricultural science would be actively used in domestic agricultural production and strengthen the competitive position of Russia.
"Investment in research must be accompanied by effective implementation of its results, for this we need to build closer relations between agricultural universities and industry-leading research centers, advanced production companies, to link the selection of priority directions of development of agribusiness with the formation of the state tasks for universities and research centers. It is important to maintain both small innovative companies and educational and experimental farms"- is said in Dmitry Medvedev’s speech.
