Problems of agribusiness and education discussed in SSAU

March, 20 2015 Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasian Federal district Sergei Melikov held in Stavropol State Agrarian University the meeting of the Council under the Plenipotentiary. Among the participation were the Secretary of State for Northern Caucasus Lev Kuznetsov, the heads of the Federal subjects of the North Caucasus Federal district, the heads of district departments of Federal law enforcement agencies.

Before the opening of the event was the awarding ceremony for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War with the commemorative medals devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Victory. Sergei Melikov presented the awards with the words of sincere gratitude to nine participants in the war.

The Council members also participated in Patriotic action "Znamya Pobedy", where the heads of the federal subjects of the North Caucasus Federal district together with Sergey Melikov made a copy of the victory banner.

Next, the participants moved on to discuss the issue on the agenda - the implementation of regional plans for sustainable development and priorities in the field of education. Significant place in the subsequent discussion of the agenda was dedicated to the problems of modernization of agriculture in the district - this sector is recognized as one of the most promising drivers of the development of the North Caucasus in general.

Particularly at the meeting was highlighted the need for the development of processing industries, primarily food. "This industry is characterized by high investment attractiveness, it is the field of extremely hard competitive struggle - as with producers from other regions, as with imports. Today in the food processing industry the share of imported goods is more than 60-70%. This is the most significant sign of our food dependency", - emphasized Mr. Melikov.

The plans and prospects of economic development of the regions of North Caucasus Federal district were announced by the head of the Ministry's of the North Caucasus Lev Kuznetsov. The head of the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania Taimuraz Mamsurov and chairman of the government of the Chechen Republic Ruslan Edelgeriev reported about the situation in their regions.

While the discussion on priorities in education the Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasian Federal district Sergei Melikov has pointed several major problematic issues, particularly the issue of lack of training places in secondary educational institutions of the district, the problems of the content of academic work, violations of law identified by law enforcement bodies in the sphere of education. Special attention was given to the need of active work with students. "In addition to direct educational administrations of educational institutions and public authorities need to pay close attention to extracurricular student activity. Together with the student government and representatives of the youth society, we must strengthen in young people a sense of patriotism and desire for nationwide civil unity", - emphasized Mr. Melikov.

A report on the situation in the educational system of district and state policies aimed at improving the education and moral upbringing, was made by the Deputy Plenipotentiary representative of President Mikhail Vedernikov. There were also speeches of the head of the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of education Sergey Kravtsov, Deputy Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Alexander Klimov, the head of Ingush Republic Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.
