In a festive and warm atmosphere Stavropol State Agrarian University held celebrations in honor of Victory Day. In the assembly hall of the university we met veterans, including working at the Agrarian University, students and teachers. "Immortal regiment" - students of Agrarian University were holding pillars with pictures of soldiers-winners, who worked at the university.

Soloists the national Academic Choir teachers and university staff congratulated veterans, performing favorite all military and patriotic songs. The rector of the University, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Trukhachev opened the meeting. Addressing the veterans, he thanked the veterans for giving young people an invaluable opportunity of personal contact. "You will never be forgotten by family of Agrarian University! With great attention the participants listened to in the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, the participant of the capture of the Battle in Berlin Pavel Sergeevich Zakharchenko: "We won because we went into battle, guided by the precepts of the Great Russian military leader Suvorov, Bagration, Kutuzov. And we have put on their knees the most treacherous enemy in the world - Fascism! I think that each of you understands a heavy price of the victory.. And we won because such feelings were overflowing all, everyone had this attitude! ".

Chairman of the Regional Council of Veterans, the deputy of the Duma of Stavropol Krai Alexei Gonochenko, addressing the participants of the meeting, said that of the 400 staff and students of Agrarian University, went to the front, less than half have returned home.

The chairman of the veteran organization of Agrarian University, assistant professor of philosophy and history, a retired colonel, a former minor prisoners of fascism Viktor Kozachenko said: "This is a unique organization, no other such in the city or in the province. Its main task is to protect the honor, rights and freedoms of every veteran, as well as taking care of a decent level of life and material well-being. We, the veterans want one thing: that children and adults do remember the price of victory. And we believe that it will. The Victory Day is a holiday not only for us, who saw the war with their own eyes. This is a serious and important lesson for everyone".

The tradition, which has more than forty years, is to commemorate the victims, staff and students of the university, a minute of silence and laying flowers at the monument-stele with the names of the heroes who gave their lives in the battles for the Motherland in the Great Patriotic War.
