Bread is a main thing

The Agricultural University traditionally takes an active part in the international specialized exhibition "Bread Festival in the south of Russia." In Stavropol, the forum of bakeries, confectioners, experts, businessmen, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, raw materials, ingredients has been held for the fifth time.

The delegations of the six faculties of the SSAU, namely, Agrobiology and Land Resources, Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Farm Mechanization, Technological Management, Veterinary Medicine, Social Service and Tourism presented their displays in special booths in the exhibition complex "Stavropol". - The teaching and scientific research laboratory headed by Prof. G.P.Starodubtseva is mong the regular participants of the forum.

On the eve of the grand opening of the V bread festival in southern Russia, Rector of the Stavropol Agrarian University, Professor Vladimir Trukhachev noted that the feast of bread in the south of Russia is a unique and significant event in the cultural and business life of the Stavropol Territory, as well as all regions of the North Caucasus and Southern federal districts. It is no coincidence that the festival takes place here because wheat is one of the main crops in the Stavropol region, and the volume of bread production is more than 160 thousand tons per year.

The students of the Agrarian University met with the Vice President of the International Association of Bakers Guenther Carl Maria Keffer (Switzerland). The guest shared secrets of professional skills with the students during the open dialogue.

The exhibition program includes activities aimed at the development of the business sector, the creation of the investment climate, as well as regional economic growth. The exhibition is held to discuss industry trends and prospects for import substitution in Russia, innovative technologies in agriculture. The seminars, round tables, presentations are attended by representatives of the Russian Government, the State Duma Committee on Agriculture, the major Russian retail chains and companies, industrial enterprises and various federal and provincial departments.

The event is annually attended by more than 3 thousand delegates, including foreign delegations from Switzerland, Sweden, Italy and Latin America. Also within the framework of the "Bread Festival", the Cup of Baking among the youth is held under the motto "Baker is a profession of the future", aimed at improving the professional skills of future bakers, contributing to the development of their careers. Bakery in southern Russia has its own specificity, which is dominated by the production of white bread, said the president of the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners Yuri Katznelson. In the Stavropol region, a share of bakery products from wheat flour in the total production is about 70 percent. In the production of confectionery and pasta, the Stavropol region is a leader in the South of Russia. 18 kilograms of pasta a year is produced for a citizen. It is two and a half times more than the national average.

The forum will continue its work. Web seminars, public lectures, round tables, master classes by leading representatives of the Russian bakery industry, European experts are in its program.
